Responsibilities:
Network Monitoring and Maintenance:
- Monitor network performance, availability, and security using monitoring tools and systems.
- Respond to alerts and notifications promptly to investigate and resolve issues.
- Perform routine network maintenance tasks, including software updates, configuration changes, and patch management.
Incident Management:
- Troubleshoot and resolve network-related incidents, outages, and service disruptions.
- Document incident details, actions taken, and resolutions in the incident management system.
- Escalate unresolved issues to higher-level support teams or vendors as necessary.
Change Management:
- Implement approved changes to the network infrastructure following change management processes and procedures.
- Coordinate with internal teams and stakeholders to schedule and execute planned changes with minimal disruption to operations.
Performance Optimization:
- Analyze network performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
- Recommend and implement optimization strategies to enhance network performance, reliability, and scalability.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Generate regular reports on network performance, incidents, and maintenance activities for management review.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience as a NOC Engineer or similar role in a network operations environment.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, technologies, and best practices.
- Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds, Wireshark).
- Experience with incident management and change management processes.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Working Conditions:
- This is a full-time position based in San Diego.
- Flexibility to work in rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as part of the NOC team's coverage schedule.
