Responsibilities:

  1. Network Monitoring and Maintenance:

    • Monitor network performance, availability, and security using monitoring tools and systems.
    • Respond to alerts and notifications promptly to investigate and resolve issues.
    • Perform routine network maintenance tasks, including software updates, configuration changes, and patch management.
  2. Incident Management:

    • Troubleshoot and resolve network-related incidents, outages, and service disruptions.
    • Document incident details, actions taken, and resolutions in the incident management system.
    • Escalate unresolved issues to higher-level support teams or vendors as necessary.
  3. Change Management:

    • Implement approved changes to the network infrastructure following change management processes and procedures.
    • Coordinate with internal teams and stakeholders to schedule and execute planned changes with minimal disruption to operations.
  4. Performance Optimization:

    • Analyze network performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
    • Recommend and implement optimization strategies to enhance network performance, reliability, and scalability.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
    • Generate regular reports on network performance, incidents, and maintenance activities for management review.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience as a NOC Engineer or similar role in a network operations environment.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, technologies, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds, Wireshark).
  • Experience with incident management and change management processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a full-time position based in San Diego.
  • Flexibility to work in rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as part of the NOC team's coverage schedule.
