Position Summary:
We are seeking a Level 2 Smart Hands Technician with basic scripting knowledge to provide hands-on IT support, troubleshooting, and deployment assistance in a data center or enterprise environment. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to follow standard operating procedures for hardware and software configurations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hardware Support: Install, configure, and troubleshoot servers, network devices, and other IT equipment.
- Cabling & Connectivity: Perform network patching, cable management, and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
- Basic Scripting: Utilize scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation and troubleshooting tasks.
- Remote Support Assistance: Act as hands-on support for remote IT teams, following instructions for hardware and software fixes.
- Device Deployment: Assist with deploying new hardware, including servers, switches, and workstations.
- Firmware & Software Updates: Support system updates, patch management, and basic configurations.
- Inventory & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of IT assets, cabling, and infrastructure components.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to hardware, networking, and basic software.
- Vendor Coordination: Work with third-party vendors for equipment replacements, repairs, and installations.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP).
- Scripting: Basic knowledge of scripting in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Hands-On Experience: 2+ years in a data center, IT support, or similar technical role.
- Certifications (Preferred): CompTIA A+, Network+, CCNA, or equivalent experience.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs, rack and stack equipment, and perform tasks in a data center environment.
Preferred Experience:
- Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Experience with ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira, or similar).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
