MetroSys is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Security & Migration Engineer to support a new customer engagement involving the hardening of a newly deployed Dell PowerFlex environment and the migration of VMware workloads to Azure. This role requires a blend of deep infrastructure security expertise, compliance alignment experience, and hands-on migration skills across VMware and Microsoft Azure.

The engineer will work closely with customer teams, Dell deployment engineers, and MetroSys leadership to ensure the environment is secure, compliant, and ready for operational use—while also helping plan and execute a large-scale virtualization migration effort.

Key Responsibilities

1. PowerFlex Security Hardening & Compliance

  • Lead security, compliance, and configuration-hardening activities for a new Dell PowerFlex environment.

  • Align system configuration and operational controls to NIST 800-53, internal customer policies, and industry best practices.

  • Review the Dell-deployed baseline and drive remediation plans for gaps, misconfigurations, and risk findings.

  • Produce documentation, diagrams, control mapping, and runbooks to support audit readiness and ongoing operations.

  • Guide customer teams through secure design decisions, access models, and configuration standards.

2. VMware-to-Azure Migration Planning & Execution

  • Participate in planning and detailed scoping for the migration of up to 375 VMware VMs from VxRail to Azure Local VMs.

  • Evaluate applications, dependencies, network needs, and workload characteristics to determine the appropriate migration strategy.

  • Build migration runbooks, test plans, sequencing strategies, rollback procedures, and environment validation processes.

  • Support and/or execute the migration depending on schedule, resource alignment, and customer timelines.

  • Collaborate with Azure administrators, VMware engineers, and project managers to ensure seamless transitions.

3. Collaboration & Documentation

  • Partner with Dell’s deployment teams to ensure proper handoff from hardware build to security hardening.

  • Coordinate with customer SMEs across networking, security, cloud, and compliance.

  • Provide detailed documentation, findings, and recommendations.

  • Contribute to project planning, status updates, risk assessments, and technical advisories.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years in infrastructure engineering, security engineering, cloud engineering, or related roles.

  • Strong background in infrastructure hardening, system security, compliance alignment, or audit readiness.

  • Experience with NIST 800-53 or similar control frameworks.

  • Hands-on experience with VMware virtualization, including migrations, upgrades, and workload assessments.

  • Proficiency with Azure compute, VM deployment models, networking, and workload landing zones.

  • Familiarity with enterprise storage platforms (PowerFlex preferable but not required).

  • Ability to create clear documentation, runbooks, and remediation plans.

  • Strong communication skills and experience working in fast-paced, multi-team project environments.
