Network Engineer
OVERVIEW:
MetroSys is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to support the ongoing operations, maintenance, and optimization of the network infrastructure for our client, Piedmont Healthcare. This individual will focus on ensuring stable and secure network performance across the organization by executing configuration, troubleshooting, and documentation tasks. The ideal candidate has experience working with Cisco technologies and thrives in a collaborative, healthcare-focused IT environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other Cisco equipment.
Ensure high availability and performance of network systems while minimizing unplanned downtime.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve basic to moderately complex network issues, escalating when necessary.
Document network topologies, configurations, changes, and procedures to support ongoing operations and compliance.
Collaborate with IT and end-user teams to provide support, training, and guidance as needed.
Support project implementation related to infrastructure upgrades or expansions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
In lieu of a degree, 4 additional years of directly relevant work experience is acceptable.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with Cisco networking hardware, including installation and maintenance.
Without a degree, a total of 6 years of relevant IT networking experience is required.
Certifications (Preferred):
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher certification is highly desirable.
