Responsibilities:

  1. Network Infrastructure Management:

    • Design, configure, and maintain Juniper switching infrastructure across multiple locations to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
    • Implement and manage network protocols, including VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), and Link Aggregation (LAG) for efficient data transmission.
  2. Scripting and Automation:

    • Develop and implement scripts using Juniper scripting languages (e.g., Junoscript, SLAX) to automate network configuration and management tasks.
    • Create custom scripts to streamline network provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting processes.
  3. Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting:

    • Monitor network performance and health using Juniper monitoring tools and platforms.
    • Troubleshoot network issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and disruption.
  4. Security and Compliance:

    • Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, access control lists (ACLs), and VPN configurations, to protect against security threats and vulnerabilities.
    • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, such as PCI DSS and GDPR, related to network security and data privacy.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Create and maintain documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for network infrastructure and configurations.
    • Generate regular reports on network performance, capacity, and utilization to support decision-making and planning activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering with a focus on Juniper switching and scripting.
  • Proficiency in Juniper Junos operating system and configuration management.
  • Strong scripting skills using Juniper scripting languages (e.g., Junoscript, SLAX).
  • Knowledge of network protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a contract full-time position based in Long Beach.
  • Occasional travel to remote locations may be required for network installations, upgrades, and maintenance.
